AquaVan Comes To Mouat

On Wednesday, Nov. 28th, The Vancouver Aquarium’s outreach initiative ‘AquaVan’ brought their ‘Journey to Canada’s North’ exhibit to WJ Mouat where grade 9 Science and grade 11 Biology students explored the diverse region of Canada’s Arctic.  The exhibit included a mobile aquarium filled with sea urchins, anemones and sea stars as well as artifacts and furs from animals that are all well-adapted to living with ice.  Many valuable connections between these and the Inuit First Nations who call the Arctic home were made.  The exhibit also discussed the urgent topic of climate change and how this is affecting this remote area.

Many thanks to the VanAqua facilitators, Science teachers and PE department!
