Class of 2022 – Graduation Dinner and Dance (Prom)

This year your prom dinner and dance will be held at Newlands Golf and Country Club in Langley. This is a beautiful facility, very fitting for your special celebration. There will be many opportunities to take photos, reminisce and celebrate with your classmates. Remember that your prom is a school event, and we expect your conduct to be in keeping with our high standards at WJ Mouat. Below is a list of guidelines designed to ensure everyone has a terrific evening.

  • There will be absolutely no drinking or drug use before or during the event
  • Only our graduates and approved guests are welcome at this event
  • Transportation to and from Prom is by school bus only – you may not drive on your own
  • When arriving for Prom/Hawk Walk, all vehicles must be driven safely.
  • The Abbotsford Police who will be on site
  • Reminder any stunting, burnouts etc. will result in the student and their guest being removed from attending prom.  Students are responsible for the actions of their drivers.
  • All grads and guests must go through a security check before boarding buses and before entering the banquet facility.

Schedule for the evening:

  • Arrive at Mouat at 3:00 pm
  • Gather in the gym at 4:15 for the Hawk Walk
  • This is a chance to show of your suits and dresses to your parents
  • Board the buses for Prom at 4:30
  • Buses will return from Prom approximately 11:00 pm

Driving Expectations:

Grade 12’s and their drivers’ are responsible to drive in a safe and orderly manner. We have hundreds of guests on site including small children and we want to ensure that no individual’s personal safety is at risk.  The Abbotsford Police Department will be in attendance and enforcing the Motor Vehicle Offences such as revving, stunting, speeding, displays of N, over seating etc.  Please drive responsible too and from Prom.

Parking:

Students may park their vehicles in the Mouat parking lot before or after their red-carpet arrival.

Parents with a valid Disability Parking permit may park their vehicle in the Mouat parking lot.  Please enter at the far west entrance  (Grad Entrance) and park in the Staff parking area.

Parents and guest are asked to park either at the MRC and walk along the field walkway to Mouat OR at Exhibition Park and walk to Mouat.  Please respect our neighbors and adhere to local parking restrictions.  There is no parking on Mouat Drive and parking on surrounding streets is limited to permitted parking (townhouse). 

Red Carpet Arrival:

Student will arrive at Mouat anytime between 3pm and 4pm.  They will drive west along Mouat Drive to the far entrance of the parking lot (follow the green line in the picture).  Once within the parking lot, they will travel east to the red carpet drop off site.  Graduates and their guest will walk the red carpet with lots of opportunity for pictures.  Their driver will either loop back to park the vehicle within the student parking area (following the orange arrows) OR exit the site (following the red arrows).   SEE DIAGRAM BELOW 

The parent viewing area is anywhere in the front of the school.  Please do not stand in areas that are cautioned off (this allows for the free movement of vehicles).

Hawk Walk

Grads at 4pm you will assemble in the small gym for organization and to begin the walk.

Parents you may find seating in any of the rectangular blue areas or in the bleachers.  You are also stand along the perimeter of any of our hallways along the procession.  SEE DIAGRAM BELOW 

Bus and Prom Tables:

You will travel to Prom on school district provided transportation according to your prom table number.  Your assigned bus will be outside the front entrance at 4:30pm.

  • Bus 1 = Tables 1, 2, 3, and 4
  • Bus 2 = 5, 6, 7, 8
  • Bus 3 =  9, 10, 11, 12
  • Bus 4 = 13, 14, 15, 16
  • Bus 5 = 17, 18, 19, 20
  • Bus 6 = 21, 22, 23, 24
  • Bus 7  = 25, 26, 27, 28
  • Bus 8 =  29, 30, 31, 32
  • Bus 9 = 33, 34, 35

Lastly,

We’d like to say thank each of our graduating students for four fantastic years.  You have at every occasion shown us how amazing you are.  You have excelled at academics, on the athletic field, and most importantly, in your character.  You have cared for your peers, worked as a team, demonstrated your responsibility, shown awareness for the world around us and walked with integrity.  Thank you!  We look forward to sending you off in style on Monday.
