TEACHER DESCRIPTION/ REFLECTION: In what ways do choices have to be made to fit a movie into a certain genre?  First, we brainstormed different genres of movies, and students did a deep dive into what film making aspects need to be included to make a film fit in to a particular genre.  We then chose a few prompts – characters and events that must be included in the project, and groups then selected different genres  to depict their movie.  It created a fun variety of styles where the topics were similar, but the execution was so different.

STUDENT REFLECTION: It helped me look at directing and movie making completely differently in a positive way. I truly learned so much from it.  It was neat to see the different styles even though they had the same topics

Extended Day Art is up and running for this school year! This course is run by Mr. J. Turner and Ms. White. It is for students interested in building their art skills, art portfolios and sense of community. We started classes with icebreakers and free association group drawings to upbeat music. Several students from this class will be volunteering at the Taste of Abbotsford Night Market at Jubilee Park this Friday (Sept. 15th) and the upcoming Dig for Your Rights Exhibit at The Reach Gallery as well as more events throughout the school year.

Self-Care Mondays

<p>Description automatically generatedThis week’s self-care tip is about: SUNSETS

Studies show that taking the time to experience natural beauty, such as a sunset, can make you feel better, increase your generosity and enhance your life satisfaction. It’s about dropping all you’re doing and appreciating the beauty of the moment. So, take that time today to appreciate the beauty of nature and if you can, watch a sunset, look at the trees and the sky, listen to the wind and really pay attention to what you see and hear and feel.
