Spotlight on Learning:  Jazz Band

Over the last couple of weeks, the junior and senior jazz bands have had the opportunity to work with and learn from Juno nominated and award-winning musicians Jodi Proznick and Shirantha Beddage. They were both fantastic clinicians that taught our students how to improve on what they’re already doing so well.

War in Ukraine

Just before Spring Break Ms. Mangat offered to collaborate to research the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the history of Russia/Ukrainian relations using free resources from ProQuest as well as other Library resources in Mr. D. Fowler’s Socials classes.  Two SS 10 classes worked towards revealing their understanding of the War in Ukraine while researching using the curricular competencies of ethical judgment.

Bus Transportation 22-23

School Bus online registration for 2022-23 school year will open on May 2nd, registration will run till August 7th.  From August 8 to October 2nd, we will be building routes and adjusting runs and as a result bus registration will be closed during that time and will re-open Monday, October 3rd.  All students need to register or re-register every year, if you don’t register by the deadline you will have to wait till October before your student can ride the bus.  We had a new automated registration system implemented last year, if you’re a returning rider you would have been sent a login and password, back when you originally registered to use to securely log into our site.  Everything you need to know about registration can be found on our Transportation Web Site see here https://www.abbyschools.ca/student-transportation  select “REGISTER NOW” button.  There is another button there on that web page for the Tutorial on how to also register a tutorial on how to edit your students current busing registration information, you can push on that button if you wish.   If you’ve forgotten your login information when you get to the registration site, there is a “Forgot Password” reset area.  For those returning to the registration site this year it will only take a minute to re-register as all of your information for your student will be on your site once you log in, most of you will only need to change your students grade and perhaps school name if they’re moving from Elementary to Middle or Middle to High school then fill in your date to begin riding (must fill in date to begin riding, very important!).  If any of your contact information has changed you will have a chance to change that as well at that time.

Grade 12’s URGENT – LAST CALL

We are excited to include a personal message, for each grad, that will be read aloud at convocation on Friday, June 17 as you cross the stage.  The survey posted in the Grad Google Classroom contains the information that will be shared.  The deadline was Friday, May 27.  We have extended the deadline to this Wednesday as there are over 100 grade 12’s who have NOT completed the survey.

The information you submit will be read aloud, in third person, with your provided pronouns, when you receive your diploma.  For example:  “Simon plans to attend UFV in the fall and they would like to thank their family and friends.”

Any blanks or inappropriate comments will automatically be replaced with “This grad would like to thank their teachers and administrators.”

If you have any questions or any trouble with he form, please see Ms. Bowater in room 222 by Wednesday.
