Spotlight on Learning:  We Are Hawks Art Show

WJM Leadership collaborated with the Art Studio and the Drawing and Painting students to put together an Art Show for We Are Hawks Week. Clea Brummit and Tekarra Keillor’s enthusiasm and efforts to bring this event together after those busy short weeks is much appreciated. The We Are Hawks Art Show is such a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their hard work and skill.

Ms. Storozuk had her Grade 10 students view and create presentations describing their favourite pieces en Francais. SO great to learn from each other! As she said, “authentic learning at it’s finest!”

The artwork below is just a sample of the art in the show. These pieces are by Gurleen Sidhu, Ella Gabriel, Finn Toews, Prabhnoor Kaur, Anna Nguyen, Jael Okoti, and Danika Lyons

Youth Mental Health Forum

On Friday, the Abbotsford School District hosted a Youth Mental Health Forum with participants from all high schools across the city.  Our Mouat participants challenged their thinking while advocating for the supports they and their peers would like to see in school.  Thank you to the crew who presented their plan to Mrs. Pollastretti, and Trustee Mr. Peterson.  Lastly, a shout out to Mrs. Nyberg and Mrs. Rajabally for supporting our students to find their student voice.

MMIWG2S

Kudos to the Thrive Leadership and our students for their acknowledgement and leaning into our MMIWG2 assembly.  Students were quiet, attentive, and respectful as our Thrive leadership team presented on a powerful and important topic.

Bussing and Transportation for Next School Year:  22-23

School Bus online registration for 2022-23 school year opened on

May 2nd, registration will run till August 7th.  From August 8 to October 2nd, we will be building routes and adjusting runs and as a result bus registration will be closed during that time and will re-open Monday, October 3rd.  All students need to register or re-register every year, if you don’t register by the deadline you will have to wait till October before your student can ride the bus.  We had a new automated registration system implemented last year, if you’re a returning rider you would have been sent a login and password, back when you originally registered to use to securely log into our site.  Everything you need to know about registration can be found on our Transportation Web Site see here https://www.abbyschools.ca/student-transportation  select “REGISTER NOW” button.  There is another button there on that web page for the Tutorial on how to also register a tutorial on how to edit your students current busing registration information, you can push on that button if you wish.   If you’ve forgotten your login information when you get to the registration site, there is a “Forgot Password” reset area.  For those returning to the registration site this year it will only take a minute to re-register as all of your information for your student will be on your site once you log in, most of you will only need to change your students grade and perhaps school name if they’re moving from Elementary to Middle or Middle to High school then fill in your date to begin riding (must fill in date to begin riding, very important!).  If any of your contact information has changed you will have a chance to change that as well at that time.
