Spotlight on Learning:  Differentiation in French Immersion

Although students may be in the same grade, French immersion students are seldom at the same level. Therefore, a differentiated approach is essential for them to continue building on their skills, and confidence. Using the application ‘Les dictées d’Archibald’, students can choose their own profile, work at their own pace, and at their own level, to increase their vocabulary and refine their listening and writing skills.  “I think it helps a lot with speaking and listening and then being able to write words out. It also helps a lot with spelling because of the ability to look at your mistakes and fix them and then double check that you did it correctly.” Atticus Brummitt, grade 10 

Abbotsford Arty Awards

 Last weekend on September 25th the Abbotsford Art Council held their 17th annual Arty Awards Show. There were a variety of different categories for a variety of different themes/achievements within the art world. Our Susie White (Art Teacher) was nominated and won in the Visual Arts category! It was a very proud moment for her and for us. Go Hawks!

Cross Country Update

The Cross Country team participated in meet #2 at Clearbrook Park on Monday and with great results. All runners had a great race with a special congratulations going out to Sam May who placed 3rd in the junior boys division. WAY TO GO HAWKS! The next meet is at Aldergrove Lake Park on October 13th. Come on out and cheer the team on!!

Gym Spectators

After We are excited to announce that Spectators will be allowed in all Abbotsford Public School gym.  will be asked to adhere to the following guidelines:

·       All spectators must always wear a non-medical mask while indoors

·       All spectators must complete a Daily Health Check before entering the building.  Links to this health check will be posted at entrance doors to the school and the gym and can be completed with a phone.

·       Spectators are asked to stay home if they exhibit COVID symptoms.

·       Seating will be limited to 50% of gym capacity.  Please follow all signage in the gym when finding a seat.  Once gyms have reached this capacity limit, no further spectators will be allowed to enter

·       Spectators will be asked to respect others’ personal space while inside.  Please follow physical distancing guidelines.

·       In order to help follow these capacity limits, we encourage our athletes to have only one family member watch a sports event in person.

Grad Cruise Pt. 1

Grad Cruise Part 1 on September 28th was a huge success. A great time was had by all. Thank you Mouat grads for being so delightful and responsible. Part 2 coming up on October 5th. 

Jr. and Sr. Girls Volleyball and Jr. Football

On Tuesday, our Sr. Girls Volleyball team took on the Walnut Grove Gators and took home a win starting their season 2-0. The large gym was in action on Wednesday with the Jr. Girls Volleyball team taking on Bateman and Hatzic in round-robin action featuring two Mouat teams!  And finally, the Jr. Boys had a last minute schedule change but didn’t let it phase them taking on cross-town rivals Abby Sr.  Winner! Go Hawks.  Up next the Sr. Boys play Abby Sr. Friday night!
