(Victoria, Ministry of Education and Child Care) - Empowering students and educators to identify and take action against racism and discrimination in British Columbia schools is the aim of a new provincial K-12 Anti-Racism Action Plan launched on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023.
This past Tuesday, the Black Connections Club from Yale hosted a district-wide event with author, Harrison Mooney, and a student-led panel discussion. With music pumping from DJ Fly, and some delicious bites from locally owned Cool Runnings Bistro in Matsqui Village, the evening was both intimate and powerful.

Spotlight on Learning: Finding Engagement in Life Sciences 11 - Janelle Dick
The Youth Transition Program is holding a Christmas workshop for all youth aged 12-19 during the winter break!
The workshop will include a 4-day series from December 19th to December 22 based on Anger Management and Emotional Regulation. All youth will learn constructive ways to express emotion, gain knowledge of triggers & insight, acquire beneficial tools to use as well as improving self-awareness.

It’s the first day of school and as the latest CLE 10 students tumble into the portable, you can feel the room filling with anxiety.
“Why do we have to learn about careers?”
“I’m too young to know what I want to be when I grow up!”
“How am I supposed to know what career I want?”
“What if I don’t end up being what I pick right now?!”
On the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, flags at all Abbotsford schools and district sites are lowered at half-mast.
On this day, over 30 years ago, an act of violence shook our country and led Parliament to designate December 6 as The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. As we mourn the ones we lost and remember their lives, we reaffirm our commitment to creating workplaces and schools free from gender-based violence.
